It feels like there’s a huge beauty launch every other day, at least according to our emails from Sephora, where claims of game-changing creams and eyeliners packed with futuristic technology are incessant. It can be hard to cut through the noise to figure out what’s actually worth trying.

But, when we heard Kosas (you probably know them as the makers of the obsession-worthy Wet Lip Oil Gloss and Tinted Face Oil) was launching a new concealer, we were actually intrigued. The Revealer Super Creamy and Brightening Concealer offers buttery medium-to-full coverage and skin-improving ingredients (think depuffing caffeine, brightening pink algae extract, soothing arnica and plumping peptides). We let ten real women test the concealer before its public debut and had them compare it to their go-to concealer. We asked them to wear the concealer all day and photographed them around 4 p.m. in natural light. Here are their honest thoughts (and un-retouched photos).

Usual Concealer: Armani Power Fabric Concealer

“On a scale of one to ten, I’m giving Kosas a 7.8. The consistency is close to Tarte Shape Tape, which I’ve used in the past, as it goes on pretty thick. I use concealer under my eyes and found I only needed a little to get the coverage I was looking for. I will probably keep using Armani Power Fabric Concealer, because it feels light but offers a lot of coverage. I could totally see myself adding a light layer of Kosas when I need a bit more coverage.”

Usual Concealer: Hourglass Vanish Airbrush Concealer

“I recently bought the new Hourglass Vanish Airbrush Concealer and so far I’ve been loving it. My only qualm? It takes quite some time to blend in. This Kosas formula totally fixes that problem—it blends like a dream whether I apply it with a Beauty Blender or a concealer brush for my under eyes and the red areas around my nose. While the Kosas concealer tends to crease right after application (especially under the eyes), I just reblend it with a Q-tip and I’m good to go. It’s also a little bit shiny right after application, so I tend to mattify it with a touch of powder.”

Usual Concealer: Supergoop! Bright-Eyed 100% Mineral Eye Cream SPF 40

“Every other concealer I’ve tried is either too intense for my otherwise natural everyday makeup, or creases and makes my under-eye lines more obvious. Kosas has changed the game for me. I swiped the super fluffy doe foot brush under my eyes and dotted it on a few blemishes before blending with a damp Beauty Blender and I was like, Where has this been my whole life? It’s creamy, super blendable and I only noticed slight creasing, which I was able to fix easily. I’ve been thoroughly enjoying putting it on every morning and love that it’s made with clean ingredients.”

Usual Concealer: IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye Full Coverage Anti-Aging Waterproof Concealer

“My go-to brand was IT Cosmetics, which is basically glue you can put under your eyes. It always got the job done but was way heavier than I prefer for my day-to-day. The Kosas concealer is lightweight, stayed on all day long and didn’t crease at all. It’s definitely my new favorite.”

Usual Concealer: NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer

“The Kosas concealer was great—it blended perfectly without looking too thick under my eyes. The color was nearly perfect for my skin tone, but I might even go a little lighter next time to brighten up my dark circles. It does come off a bit shiny at first, but dusting translucent powder over top does the trick. I typically use NARS, but this Kosas formula is a nice consistency that felt pretty similar.”

Usual Concealer: Fenty Beauty by Rihanna Pro Filt’r Instant Retouch Concealer

“I’m just starting to use makeup more, and concealer has been my new favorite product. The concealer I’m using at the moment is from Fenty, but this new Kosas one gives it some major competition. It blended well with my skin tone and it doesn’t feel dry at all. I used some setting powder, but I think even without it, my under eye wouldn’t feel cakey or dry.”

Usual Concealer: Maybelline Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circle Treatment Concealer

“Although way more full coverage than my go-to (Maybelline Age Rewind), the Kosas concealer still felt surprisingly lightweight and lasted on my skin much longer than I’m used to. It oxidized a bit after it dried, slowly turning the color a little darker than my skin tone, so just be extra cautious while picking your shade.”

Usual Concealer: NYX Professional Makeup Can’t Stop Won’t Stop Concealer

“I LOVE this Kosas concealer. Shade 07 was perfect for my skin tone, it really brightened up my under eyes and lasted all night long. I wore it to every New York Fashion Week show this season and it helped me achieve the soft-glam look I was going for. I usually use NYX concealer, but I don’t think I can ever go back after trying Kosas.”

Usual Concealer: CoverGirl TruBlend Undercover Concealer

“I really loved using this concealer! It has a very soft and smooth texture and blended very nicely with my skin. It even lasted throughout the day when I had to travel around the city. I mainly use CoverGirl or whatever quick product I can find, but I definitely plan to keep using this one in the future.”

Usual Concealer: Too Faced Born This Way Naturally Radiant Concealer

“This concealer has a very silky and smooth texture; it kind of reminds me of NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer with how dewy it is, which I love! I didn’t get as much coverage as I do with my go-to Too Faced Born This Way concealer, so I had to build and build until I got the coverage I wanted.”
