If there’s one thing Jennie Garth isn’t interested in these days, it’s piling on tons of makeup. The actress, who’s long been candid about beauty and aging gracefully post-90210 days, is leaning into a more skin-first approach—one that prioritizes letting her skin show through.

That mindset is exactly why she partnered with IT Cosmetics on the launch of its new Do It All Sheer Tint Face Balm, a clinically tested, 4-in-1 tint designed to deliver glow while improving the look of your natural complexion over time. Infused with skincare ingredients like collagen and peptides, it's a product that blurs the line between makeup and skincare—something Garth says fits perfectly into her current routine.

I chatted with Garth about her skin and beauty routines, and she got quite candid about everything from makeup mistakes to why the phrase, “less is more,” finally makes sense.

Are you more of a one-product person or a skincare-layering type?

Oh, I’m definitely a layerer. I love skincare and I like rotating products. I’m always trying new things, so everything gets its moment.

Is there a beauty trend from your past you wouldn’t mind seeing again?

Yes, super thin eyebrows! I know everyone regrets over-tweezing, but there’s something nostalgic about pencil-thin brows that takes me right back to the ’90s. I wouldn’t do it again now that my brows are healthy—but I loved that look.

Do you have a beauty rule that you’ve officially retired?

For me, it’s the idea that you need full makeup to look put together. I want my skin to look like skin. I want to look my age—and be proud of it. Most days, it’s just a little lip color, some blush and something sheer to even things out.

Do you have any makeup tips you’ve learned from pros that you swear by?

Don’t be afraid of blush. I used to avoid it because I’d seen it done badly, but when it’s done right, it brings your whole face to life.

What’s your biggest beauty pet peeve?

Pilling—when skincare and makeup don’t play nicely together. That’s why I love products like this balm. You don’t have to worry about things beading up or separating. It’s one and done.

What makes you feel instantly put together?

A natural glow. I used to powder everything within an inch of its life, thinking I was setting my makeup. Now I want my skin to look alive; even with its imperfections. I’ve earned this skin.

Finish this sentence: Good skin days make me feel…

Vibrant.

Do you have any advice for women who feel stuck in their makeup routine?

Be inspired by what you see. There are so many great tutorials now—on TikTok, Instagram, everywhere. Find someone whose look you admire and take the risk. It’s always good to refresh your routine and try something new.
