How Do Celebs Select the Perfect Red Carpet ’Do? Gillian Anderson’s Hairstylist Weighs In

Ever wonder how celebs choose their red carpet looks? Well, there’s usually a strategy concocted by their stylist, hairstylist and makeup artist to create the perfect beauty/fashion combination.

PureWow was able to talk with celebrity hairstylist Kylee Heath and get details on her work on last night’s 77th annual Golden Globes at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles.

The stylist, who prepped The Crown star Gillian Anderson's hair for the Globes, opened up about the process of choosing the ideal hair-do for red carpet events.

“It really depends,” she said. “Sometimes the stylist/client will send the look to us directly so we can look for inspiration in advance, or they will have some ideas,” Heath said. “Then there are times when we discuss the look collectively as a team before we start glam day of. I often look for some references beforehand—some up and some down just to have some ideas ahead of time.” Very smart.

Thes stylist-to-the-stars also revealed that one it comes to making a look last, prepping the hair properly is the most important thing.

“I prep super fine hair with a light volume spray or mousse and I prep curly or coarse hair with a product that has moisture and helps with any humidity,” she continued. “I also love aerosol thermal protectant styling sprays.”

Judging by Anderson's stellar red carpet look, her work definitely paid off.
