Your Weekly Horoscopes: December 6 to 12, 2020

Things have been intense, but this week brings a relative calm between eclipses. Eclipses always come in pairs, and next week’s total solar eclipse on the 14th is going to be a doozy. To prepare, it’s best to lay low, take a bath and sit with all the feelings that are coming up. On the 9th, the sun makes a square to hazy Neptune, which spreads confusion and makes everything feel like a dream. Let’s tread carefully though because that sign might not be what it seems. Love planet, Venus, makes a supportive connection with therapeutic Pluto on the 10th letting us have a good, long cry and reminding us what really matters. Finally, on the 11th, the sun (our life force) makes a harmonious trine to Mars (our ambition). This aspect—which shows up in the natal charts of stars with lasting power like Laura Dern, Jennifer Lopez and Liza Minnelli— gets us out of our funk, but let’s not jump back into the action too fast. There are still revelations to come!

(Horoscopes follow for each sign. If you know your rising sign, reading for that will provide further insight.)

8 sagittarius

Though eclipse season is not necessarily the time to manifest anything, this week you feel like you have the magic touch. Though you’re still struggling to communicate with your family, spouse or with roommates, you’re more confident than you were earlier in the year that things will be resolved in your favor. On the 11th, the sun makes a lovely trine to Mars which encourages you to do something purely for your own pleasure. Make your favorite meal or set up a phone date with your BFF. Give yourself what you want.

This week’s mantra: Relaxation is a spell.

Though you’re getting constant texts, phone calls and emails inviting you to Zoom holiday gatherings with high school friends and socially distant volunteer events in the neighborhood, all you want to do these days is nap. And that’s OK! Just because you saw the message doesn’t mean you have to respond! It’s 2020. Make your own rules of social etiquette! On the 10th, you feel supported in your hibernation by coworkers or friends who make it clear they’re on your team. Surround yourself with those who love even the sleepy side of you.

This week’s mantra: Rest is sacred.

10 aquarius

This week is all about flexing your leadership skills. On the 10th, you’re beyond nervous about a decision you must make at work that affects literally the entire workplace. Luckily, it ends up having more support than you expected. Though people’s reactions are out of your hands, you’re realizing that everyone does trust you. Then on the 11th, your popularity soars when the Zoom holiday cocktail party you organize lifts everyone’s spirits. Even the extremely timid intern awkwardly messages to say she appreciated the good vibes. Your ability to rise to the occasion is admirable. Keep going.

This week’s mantra: Trust yourself.

11 pisces

Everything’s coming up YOU this week, sweet Pisces. It’s true! Yes, it’s overwhelming to be in the spotlight, but isn’t the attention intoxicating? Recognition comes your way on the 9th and though it gives your career a boost, it might come at the expense of a slacking coworker’s ego. And though you’re empathetic to a fault, try not to miss your own moment by running to give them support. Then on the 11th, use the sun’s beautiful trine with Mars to ask for a raise or at least splurge on some self-care. You’ve got your groove back.

This week’s mantra: Your happiness comes first.

12 aries

Wishes are fulfilled for you this week, dear Aries. But are you actually ready to get what you want? Since July, you’ve dealt with disappointment after disappointment and have been left feeling like your needs are just “too much.” But on the 11th, you finally have the energy to go for the job, the relationship or the apartment that once seemed totally off limits. Your audacity might confuse a few of your more reserved friends but you can’t let them stop you. Go for it!

This week’s mantra: Move cautiously toward the light.

1 taurus

An interesting loan or investment opportunity comes as the sun squares off with dreamy Neptune on the 9th, but if your gut is telling you that this offer is too good to be true, then it probably is. Don’t jump into anything that you can’t back out of later. Be especially careful if this financial entanglement involves your partner—romantic, business or otherwise. The two of you have been going through a lot together and luckily a deep conversation on the 10th helps clear things up.

This week’s mantra: Relationships aren’t easy but they’re everything.

2 gemini

Last week’s eclipse in your sign brought you a lot of attention and recognition but also totally burned you out. Unfortunately, there is no rest for the weary. On the 9th, you’re asked to step up and mediate a difficult situation at work. No one is communicating clearly and though all you want to do is nap through the Zoom meeting, try to listen and be a model of responsibility for your coworkers. Your dedication pays off on the 11th when your colleagues send a note or gift of appreciation to you. Remember that you’re loved.

This week’s mantra: Own the spotlight.

3 cancer

Venus, planet of connection, is still gracefully gliding through the part of your chart that signifies romance, creativity and children and has been making things especially sweet for you over the last few weeks. This transit is also transforming how you relate to others and relate to pleasure. A shift in your routine that seemed difficult or even impossible back in mid-November—like a friend-with-benefits moving out of town or your kids switching back to remote learning—becomes manageable on the 10th. You’re learning to love the challenge of making it work.

This week’s mantra: Only settle for joy.

The kids are in need of attention! Whether you’re figuring out how to hide all of Santa’s packages from your toddler or counseling your little sister through a messy breakup, the youth are getting all of your energy this week. Be careful not to overbook other obligations, particularly on the 9th,as working around anyone else’s schedule is bound to burn you out. You also may be caught in a fantasy and want to indulge your inner child. You deserve a new toy for Christmas too!

This week’s mantra: The kids are alright.

5 virgo

Stress is high this week, Virgo babe. Maybe you’re going through a breakup or a nail-biting contract negotiation. You know where you stand, but whoever you’re dealing with is leaving things totally up in the air. You hit a wall on the 9th when your nervous system can’t take any more uncertainty. It’s hard for you to relax, even at home, but remember that this is temporary. Eventually, the situation must be resolved. Use the lovely trine between the sun and Mars on the 11th to push the outcome in your favor.

This week’s mantra: It’s not time to give up yet.

6 libra

Back at the new moon in Scorpio on November 15th, you began the process of deciding what’s worth keeping. Whether you’ve been Marie Kondo-ing your possessions, applying for higher level jobs or investing in a new wardrobe, you’re leveling up with grace. On the 10th, you realize that all this restructuring, which once felt impossibly challenging, is now coming with ease. This inspires you to reach out to close friends who you’ve missed all year on the 11th. You’re ready to show up and be a part of the community again.

This week’s mantra: You’ve still got it.

7 scorpio

Your social circle doesn’t look like it did at this time last year. Of course, some of that is due to the limitations of the pandemic, but some of it was more intentional. You can’t grab those quarterly drinks with your college friends and former coworkers like you used to, and you’re learning that it’s OK to let some of those texts go unanswered. If you’re looking for a job or working up the courage to ask for a raise, lean into the trine between the sun and action planet Mars on the 11th to send out some feelers and get the ball rolling.

This week’s mantra: Quality over quantity.
