The Details

Who should you bring?

The Peninsula’s proximity to some of the city’s most renowned museums, shows and restaurants makes it a great option for anyone wanting to explore the best NYC has to offer, particularly couples who can enjoy the chic rooftop bar and world-class spa. And with its generously sized rooms and suites, plus the option to book connecting rooms, the Peninsula can also accommodate families.

What’s the food like?

With multiple dining options available, guests can happily spend their stay eating in (although with so many great restaurants outside your door, why would you want to?). At the Clement Restaurant, contemporary American food is served for breakfast and lunch (we were big fans of the homemade granola), while the Bar at Clement offers innovative cocktails and light bites in the evening (here we especially enjoyed the spring rolls). Whether you dine in or out, don’t miss riding up to the 23rd floor to the 1930s Shanghai-inspired Salon de Ning rooftop bar with dramatic views of Fifth Avenue and the surrounding city skyline.

Did you get a good night’s sleep?

You may want to explore the city that never sleeps but after a day of pounding the pavement and seeing the sights, all you’ll be able to think about is getting some quality shuteye. Luckily the Peninsula brand consistently provides one of the most comfortable beds around (truly—it feels like you’re floating on a soft, fluffy cloud). Before hitting the sack, wash off the stresses of the day in the elegant marble bathrooms featuring walk-in showers, soaking tubs, cozy robes and slippers, plus Oscar de la Renta bath products.

The in-room technology is intuitive, allowing you to easily control the lighting (mood lighting for your romantic getaway, perhaps?) and temperature with just one button.

What amenities are available?

The spacious fitness center will keep gym-goers happy thanks to the updated equipment (hello, Peloton), saunas and steam rooms, while the spa is one of the city’s absolute best featuring a large glass-enclosed pool on the 22nd floor and an array of restorative treatments (body wraps, facials, massage, reflexology and more).

How was the service?

Top notch and exactly what you would expect from a NYC institution, with happy-to-help concierge to book tickets and make recommendations and attentive doormen ready to hail a cab no matter the weather.

What was your favorite part?

The views from the rooms were spectacular! We stayed during the off season but can imagine that looking down on Fifth Avenue covered in snow over the holidays would be especially magical.
