The Kimpton Brice

For those seeking a quaint, history-filled trip or a lively, celebratory weekend, Savannah really does run the gamut of offerings. And during my recent three-night visit to the beautiful Georgian city, I was lucky enough to experience both. Traveling with friends to celebrate a 40th birthday, I found a city that offered everything from ghost tours, to river boats, to self-guided MOKE tours.

And sitting in the heart of it all, is the charming Kimpton Brice Hotel. Not only did I take advantage of all the city has to offer, but I also took advantage of all the Kimpton has to offer (yes, even the stellar Italian kitchen and bar sitting just off the lobby).

Here, my review of the Kimpton Brice Hotel in Savannah, Georgia.

The Room

Believe me when I say these rooms are comfortable (which shouldn't come as a huge surprise if you're as big a fan of Kimptons as I am). And depending on the room, there are also a variety of different views, including Washington Square and historic downtown. But perhaps the best locations within the hotel, if you can snag them, are the rooms overlooking the massive courtyard or overlooking the gorgeous garden pool (more on that in a minute).

The room was bright, clean and spacious (as was the bathroom). As with most Kimptons, there was plenty of room to spread out and plenty of closet space in case you're an overpacker like me.

And as the icing on the cake, I was greeted in my room by a tasty dessert plate and a bottle of bubbly (just one indication of how welcoming the staff at the Brice really are). I shared the bubbly with my travel companions; I did not share the dessert plate.

The Amenities

Let's start with the garden pool which is seriously nice. There are plenty of loungers surrounding the pool, a perfect place to read a book and sip a cocktail. Because, of course, the pool also boasts a garden bar that serves everything from mocktails to frozen drinks. And make sure to inquire about free poolside yoga during check-in!

As with all Kimptons, there is a free wine happy hour each day in the lobby from 5 to 6 p.m. In this case, there were also tasty homemade treats available in addition to a batched signature cocktail. This was a great way to transition from day to evening while catching up with friends (and chatting with other guests).

Of course, there is a full-on fitness center which, surprise surprise, I did not use. And each room comes with a yoga mat.

One of my favorite Kimpton perks is being able to bring my dog with me when I travel. My pup didn't join me on this particular trip, but I spotted a number of adorable four-legged friends around the property who were clearly enjoying themselves as much as their owners.

Pacci

Just off the lobby sits Pacci Italian Kitchen + Bar, a true gem in Savannah that is worth visiting whether you stay at the Kimpton or not.

I enjoyed a delicious breakfast there, but it was really my dinner at Pacci that stole the show. I dined on an enormous and enjoyable chicken parmigiana as I sipped a bartender recommended glass of red. (The bartenders are super friendly and knowledgable.) The ambiance is chic and comfy, sophisticated yet relaxed.

In fact, I enjoyed my two solo meals at Pacci so much that I brought my friends with me for craft cocktails at the bar. Allow me to be basic and recommend the espresso martini to start, followed by an anything-but-basic signature cocktail from the Pacci drink menu.

Out and About in Savannah

Helping to round out my Savannah experience were several major hits. First of all, the Kimpton Brice helped arrange a MOKE car experience with Posh Carts. I got my very own mint green vehicle to drive around the city and explore. I loved this as I was able to take in way more than I would have been able to on foot. And my friends certainly didn't mind hitching a ride. I did make time to pull over and order a stellar iced Americano at The Coffee Fox along with a tasty vegan treat (of which there are many at TCF).

I loved my river boat ride aboard the massive Georgia Queen. Definitely secure an upper deck seat for the best views, but be sure to pack the sunblock. Another win was our visit to Service Brewing Company, which was lively and spacious (just save room for a bite at the food truck sitting right out front). All of this was within walking distance of the Kimpton.

Needless to say, next time I'm in Savannah, I'll absolutely be staying at The Brice again (and this time I'll be bringing my dog along with me).
