8 Spring Trends You’ll Soon See Everywhere

When writing about a spring trend in 2023, our first question is whether it will feel current by the time spring arrives. After all, nowadays, a finger on the pulse equals a finger on the screen, and TikTok seems to move on the moment something is deemed trend-worthy. That’s why we’ve hand-selected 8 fresh finds, from nail art to snack trends, that will endure well beyond the upcoming season. Save yourself the screen time and peruse our best picks below.

6 Micro Hair Trends We Spotted on The Most Fashionable Guests at Fashion Week

1. Denim Midi Skirts

After spotting them on guests at NYFW, we’re ushering long denim skirts back into our outfit rotations. A welcome addition to any ’90s capsule wardrobe, the knee-grazing style is grown up and endlessly versatile. Street style photographer Karya Shanilecs tells us the skirt fits neatly into any fashion movement, whether you’re pairing it with a blazer and structured bag or going grunge with chunky boots and a leather belt. The best part: it’s just as easy to snap up a vintage one at your local thrift as it is to add to cart.

Shop the trend: Mango Midi Denim Skirt ($59.99), Reformation High Waist Midi ($128), Come As You Are Denim Maxi Skirt ($118), A.W.A.K.E MODE Upcycled Denim Maxi Skirt ($510)

2. Elevated Blush

Blush placement is a hot topic within the beauty community. Once used to warm the apples of our cheeks, the product has now been tasked with lifting our entire faces. We’re seeing elevated blush applications everywhere, with hues rising from the tops of the cheekbones all the way to the outer corners of the eyes. And after trying it out for ourselves, we’re backing the youthful trend. For an extra pigmented flush, press a cream blush into your temples before dusting on a matching powder shade.

Shop the trend: Tower28 Tinted Balm ($20), RMS ReDimension Blush ($35), Rare Beauty Soft Pinch Liquid Blush ($23)

3. Non-Basic Ballet Flats

As we defrost and step out into sunnier temps, we’re trading our moto boots for ballet flats. But not the simple leather ones we’ve seen in recent years. This year, expect eclectic iterations, like Simone Rocha’s crinkled gold slip-ons, Jimmy Choo’s plaid strappy pair or Sandy Liang’s satin flats to dominate this spring. Team them up with tailored trousers and a crisp button-down for a day at the office or couple with a LBD and hit the bar (cocktail, not ballet).

Shop the trend: Staud Crocheted Ballet Flats ($395), Mystic Mary Jane Flats ($138), Porte & Paire Satin Ballet Flats ($250), Pretty Ballerinas Mia Flats ($329), Schutz Arissa Flats ($98)

4. Crispy Rice Everything

TikTok is taken with crispy rice, whether it’s sprinkled over salads or pan-fried into crunchy squares. And while this food isn’t a “trend” at all (Persian, Korean and Japanese cultures have long-enjoyed the dish), users are finding inventive ways to cook up the treat. The latest involves sticking your leftover sushi rice inside a waffle iron, thanks to users like @victoriaminell and @indulgenteats. After the rice waffle is pressed to golden brown perfection, it’s time for toppings: salmon poke, avocado, cucumber, Japanese mayo and sweet soy sauce are crowd favorites.

5. Chartreuse Hues

Our Instagram feeds are awash with chartreuse fashion this month. Grassy green dresses, blazers, bags and even jelly sandals are setting the mood for Spring (and making us seriously crave some time in nature). Want to see how it’s done? Start small by layering a lime jacket over a dress or fully commit with a monochromatic look in the venomous shade.

Shop the trend: OhSeven Tie-Strap Dress ($195), AllSaints Solanio Skirt ($219), Faithfull The Brand Linen Bandeau Top ($139), Faithfull The Brand Linen Pants ($229), Sarto Devlin Slingbacks ($150)

6. Black Manis

Call it the Wednesday Addams effect, the biker style movement or the return of cool-girl grunge, black manis are here to stay in 2023. Edgy sets featuring studs at Alice and Olivia, ombre designs at Proenza Schouler and razor-sharp tips at Rodarte have us ready to break out the black bottle of polish hanging out in our drawer. And if you’re not ready for statement-making sets, a glossy black mani is always in style.

Shop the trend: Essie Neutrals Nail Polish ($10), Gucci Nail Polish ($33), NCLA Nail Lacquer ($16)

7. De-Influencing

Fielding hundreds of product recommendations is part of the social media experience. But it seems TikTok users are tiring of endless glowing reviews and product faves. The latest trend sees online personalities “de-influencing” their followers, or dishing on the purchases that didn’t stand up to the hype. So contrary to popular belief, you don’t need that $40 clear lip gloss or the buzzy supplement you didn’t chat with your doc about. Minimalism is the new must-have, people.

8. The After-Work Fun Challenge

The "life" in our work-life balance can often look like emptying the dishwasher and binge-watching Gossip Girl for the thirtieth time. TikTok wants to change that. The latest wellness challenge encourages users to do something revitalizing every day after work, whether that's taking a painting class or sitting in the grass with a good book. The creator of the challenge, @daniellevizcarra has chronicled her post-work adventures, from plunging into the ocean to planning a pizza-making night. And while users are focused on this challenge this month, the sentiment remains: Anything that pries us from our inboxes and pushes us into the real world is a trend worth following.
