I Never Thought About Buying a Truck, but the 2021 Ford F-150 Actually Has Me Reconsidering

2021 ford f 150 review cat1

Growing up, I was never one of those “car people.” You know, the ones who could talk for hours about engines, tire rims, sound systems—you name it. Cars simply got me from point A to point B and that was that. But once I got my driver’s license, I started to take more notice in a car’s design, features and comfort. I naturally gravitate towards smaller cars (#shortpeopleproblems) so a truck has never been a consideration for me—until I saw what the 2021 Ford F-150 has to offer. Let me tell you a little more about its brains and brawn.

Available Pro Power Onboard

OK, ready for this? The 2021 F-150 has usable power on demand thanks to its convenient available power outlets located in the truck’s cab and bed. Layman’s terms: You can turn your truck into a mobile generator providing power to everything from tools to a coffeemaker or even a 70-inch TV. Yes, seriously—you can power a TV from the back of your truck. It’s safe to say you’ll be the go-to person for all future tailgates.

Spacious (and Posh) Interior

When you think of a truck, you don’t usually think about an available 12-inch touchscreen, an on-the-go office or a personal assistant. Need to sign documents or eat lunch? Simply stow the available console shifter and fold out the available interior work surface. Have to make a call or check the weather? Just use your voice and ask away with the help of Ford’s SYNC® 4 Technology. And if you need to take a quick nap, the available Max Recline seat folds nearly flat for a comfortable resting position. Psst, while you’re relaxing, turn on your favorite tunes and listen to the available B&O® Unleashed Sound System by Bang & Olufsen,® complete with 18 speakers, including subwoofer. As tempting as these features sound, here’s our friendly reminder to use them responsibly while the truck is in motion.

Tailgate Work Surface

Calling all do-it-yourselfers: This part was made especially for you. The F-150 has an available power tailgate and work bed that’s fit for just about any DIY project whether you’re restoring an old desk or building a bookshelf. The available Tailgate Work Surface is an ideal spot to write, measure and cut with integrated tools including rulers, a cellphone holder, a cupholder and small-item storage. And as with every F-150, clamp pockets and tailgate tie-downs to lock in equipment and cargo come standard. Bottom line: This truck is a great space saver for crafters who don’t have space to store their equipment or even to complete the project itself.

Zone Lighting

Don’t let your workday end just because the sun goes down. Whether you’re finishing a project or need some extra light around the campsite, use the FordPass™ App to remotely light up specific spots or the entire area around the F-150, including inside the bed with available Zone Lighting. No more worrying if the flashlight batteries are dead.

Impressive. Anything else I need to know?

Well, there are eight different trim levels of the Ford F-150: XL, XLT, LARIAT, King Ranch,® Platinum, Limited, Tremor and Raptor. So be prepared to spend some time mulling over the options. No matter which you end up choosing, one thing’s for sure: With best-in-class available towing* and best-in-class available payload,** your new F-150 won’t ever quit. Ready to build and price your own? I know I am.
