Ah, the Bloody Mary: an essential element of any brunch, but so often disappointing. Our beer Bloody Mary, on the other hand, will never let you down. It’s like a cross between a Michelada and a regular Bloody Mary—the addition of a pale lager makes it ultra-refreshing (and even more flavorful).

You can technically use any beer in this cocktail, but our preference is a pale lager. It’s thirst-quenching without being bland and won’t overwhelm the other flavors in the drink. Try a few brands to find your favorite (such as Heineken, Modelo Especial or Corona).

Ingredients

1½ ounces vodka

⅔ cup tomato juice

2 teaspoons lemon juice

¾ teaspoon prepared horseradish

¼ teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

½ teaspoon Tabasco

Pinch of celery salt

8 ounces pale lager

Celery stalk, to garnish

Directions

1. In a cocktail shaker, combine the vodka, tomato juice, lemon juice, horseradish, Worcestershire sauce, Tabasco, celery salt and 2 or 3 ice cubes.

2. Shake well to combine, then strain into a glass. Top with the lager) and serve immediately, garnished with a celery stalk.
