‘This Is Us’ Taps Jennifer Morrison as New Season 4 Character—Who Will She Play?

Pearson clan, meet Jennifer Morrison.

According to TV Line, the 40-year-old actress is set to join the This Is Us cast in a “substantial” recurring guest star role in season four.

The season three finale left all of the Pearsons at a sort of crossroads. Kevin (Justin Hartley) was getting sober again and the flash-forward revealed he has a child with someone (not Zoe because they broke up). Kate (Chrissy Metz) and Toby (Chris Sullivan) brought baby Jack home and Randall (Sterling K. Brown) and Beth (Susan Kelechi Watson) decided to move to Philadelphia. And, finally, it was revealed that Rebecca (Mandy Moore) is the “her” that ultimately ends up in the hospital.

With so many storylines, there are many roles Morrison could play. For one, she looks an awful lot like the child Kevin fathers, so she could be his future baby mama. Or, she could be the next woman he dates (she does resemble his first love, Sophie). The possibilities don’t end there: The former Once Upon a Time star could also play a new friend Kate meets in mommy and me or a teacher at Beth’s ballet studio. She could be a fellow city council member of Randall’s or even the nurse caring for an ailing Rebecca if the show continues to explore the Pearsons’ future. Another option? She could be a part of Uncle Nick’s (Griffin Dunne) recovery.

Although we likely won’t find out what way Morrison’s character enters the Pearson family’s lives, at least we know season four of our favorite network drama will premiere on Tuesday, September 24 at p.m. ET/PT on NBC.

It won’t be long now.
