Tan France Reveals He’s Now Officially a U.S. Citizen: ‘It’s Something I’ve Been Working Towards for Literally 20 Years’

Major congrats are in order for Tan France, who (as of yesterday) is officially a citizen of the United States.

On Tuesday, the Queer Eye star—who is originally from the U.K.—shared the big news with his followers in an Instagram post. In the photos, we see France sporting a navy blazer, jeans and a pair of black sneakers, as he takes his oath at the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. There’s also a sweet shot featuring his husband, Rob

“A few minutes ago, I officially became a U.S citizen!! For me, this is monumental,” he captioned the slideshow. “It’s something I’ve been working towards for literally 20 years, which makes this all the more emotional.”

The 37-year-old fashion designer also opened up about his excitement to vote in the upcoming election. “And now, I will exercise my constitutional right as an American,” he continued. “Today, I will register to vote, and vote for the change I wish to see in OUR nation.”

His hubby wasn’t the only one showing support for Tan’s achievement. His Queer Eye co-stars made sure to show him love in the comments section.

Jonathan Van Ness wrote, "There is no word or phrase I have strong enough to say how happy, proud, strong you are I have no words strong enough. Love you so much.”

"I hope you realize you can no longer say things like 'you Americans always...’” Antoni Porowski quipped.

Congrats, Tan!
