Sofia Vergara Shares Throwback Pics of Herself & Julie Bowen—& OMG Those Gowns

If there's one thing we have to respect, it's a gown that's bold in color.

Sofia Vergara took to Instagram yesterday to help celebrate the 51st birthday of her longtime friend and Modern Family co-star, Julie Bowen. Vergara shared two candid throwbacks featuring Bowen, writing: "Feliz cumpleaños !!!!@itsjuliebowen misss uuuu."

The pictures were taken at the 64th Primetime Emmy Awards in 2012, where Modern Family received eleven nominations, including one for Bowen and Vergara each. In the slideshow, Vergara is seen wearing a teal Zuhair Murad gown that is super mermaid-chic. Bowen is sporting a bright chartreuse Monique Lhuillier trumpet gown (that was also worn by Nicki Minaj only a couple months later).

While the dresses are eye-popping, the energy of the photos is what's infectious. The two are seen laughing and goofing off behind the scenes, not long before Bowen would take home a prize, which was one of two Emmys she won for her role as Claire Dunphy.

Although the actresses have explored separate careers and interests, the two have remained good friends since the close of their smash sitcom. Just last October, Bowen shared a pic of a masked porch hangout with Vergara and her husband, Joe Manganiello, along with some other Modern Family cast members, including Sarah Hyland and Jesse Tyler Ferguson.

Vergara, who has been feeling very nostalgic for her Modern Family days, also just launched a new loungewear collection as a part of her Sofia Jeans brand, which will be available at Walmart. Meanwhile, Bowen celebrated her birthday on the set of an upcoming comedy film called Mixtape, where she will star alongside Gemma Brooks Allen and Nick Thune.

If you need us, we'll be going through pics of old red carpet looks.
