Simone Biles Unexpectedly Gives Pal Suni Lee’s Dad a New Wheelchair in Sweet Video

Simone Biles just did an amazing thing for her friend Suni Lee and her dad. After growing close to her fellow Olympian and witnessing the bond between the father-daughter duo, the 24-year-old Biles took it upon herself to gift Mr. Lee a brand-new wheelchair. Allow us to explain.

After returning home from the Tokyo Olympics, Lee celebrated her medals with her family back in Minnesota, including her father, John, who, due to a ladder accident, has been paralyzed from the chest down since 2019. Since his accident, John has been able to get around only by a manual wheelchair, which is usually pushed by his son, Lucky.

Wanting to help, Biles recently teamed up with the Today show to gift John an electric wheelchair from Quantum Rehab. Today’s Natalie Morales broke the news during an interview with John when she played him a clip from his daughter’s teammate. Watch the footage below.

“Hi, Mr. Lee, it's Simone. I love your daughter, Suni, so much and I know how much she loves you,” Biles said in the video. “You have done so much for her so I reached out to my friends at the Today show to see if we could do something special for you. Hope you like it.”

“Oh, my God… This is amazing,” John responded. “It'll be a little different because now they don't have to keep pushing me around.”

Suni has been very open about her relationship with her parents, especially her dad, who was the one who inspired her to get into gymnastics in the first place. In fact, when she was seven, John transformed an old mattress into a homemade balance beam in their backyard.

And even though Suni couldn’t be there to see her father receive the gift, we are sure she appreciates having a friend/teammate like Biles in her life.
