Suni Lee Shares IG Posts Following Tokyo Games: ‘I’m a Forever Olympian’

Suni Lee is reflecting on her first-ever Olympic Games. Now that her time in Toyko officially came to an end, the 18-year-old is sharing her recent accomplishments with her family, friends and followers.

Last Wednesday, Lee posted a heartfelt message on her personal Instagram account expressing her gratitude to all of the people who have shown their support. “I’m an olympian forever,” she captioned a slideshow.

“Just like that my Olympic experience is over. forever grateful to represent team USA & my amazing family back home. this has been the craziest yet most exciting journey. it was not quite how I expected my Olympics to go but it’s one that I will cherish forever! THANK YOU to everyone who believed in me & helped me get here, your support is truly amazing and I cannot thank you enough. see yall on the plains ;).”

The first image featured the gymnast standing on the sidelines looking shocked while sporting her Team USA Gymnastics uniform, while the second showed Lee mid-balance beam routine. During the Games, the champion won her first-ever Olympic gold, a silver and a bronze medal across the women's gymnastics competition.

And Lee made sure to share those medals with members of her family. Following her return home to Minnesota, the Olympian shared another pic featuring her parents, John Lee and Yeev Thoj, and her siblings. She simply captioned the post with a red heart emoji.

Sharing her gold seems fitting, considering her father was the one who inspired her to get into gymnastics in the first place. In fact, when she was seven, John transformed an old mattress into a homemade balance beam in their backyard, per Women’s Health.

Congrats, Suni! Enjoy this well-deserved time off.
