Simone Biles Apologizes for Ringing in the New Year Asleep in Bed

Famous gymnast Simone Biles welcomed 2024 from the comfort of bed.

On New Year’s Eve, the professional athlete, 26, reposted a photo originally shared by her friend, Kayla Simone, on her Instagram Story. In the snap (which has since expired), Biles was asleep in bed before the clock struck midnight. 

As shared by People, her friend Simone playfully captioned the pic, “Not this b**** inviting me to fly cross country for an NYE wedding only for her to be asleep before 10:30.” In response, Biles said she was “soooooo sorry” with a bunch of laughing emojis. 

According to People, Biles’s husband Jonathan Owens, 26, didn’t attend the wedding because his football team, the Green Bay Packers, played against the Minnesota Vikings on New Year’s Eve. 

However, the married couple did spend the holidays together. A day after Christmas, Biles shared a festive slideshow on her IG account. In the first pic, the married couple share a romantic kiss in front of their white, decorated Christmas tree. Meanwhile, the second snap shows the pair drinking holiday cocktails. 

In the caption, she wrote, “MERRY CHRISTMAS,” alongside a present and red heart emoji. 

Posing in front of the tree has quickly become a yearly tradition for the happy couple. Back in December of 2020, the pair celebrated their first Christmas together. And Biles shared a couple of snaps on her Instagram page, which show the couple wearing matching pajamas. 

She wrote in the caption, “If Santa asks, the elves did it! Merry Christmas.”
