Regina King Is a Literal Butterfly on the Oscars Red Carpet

Regina King deserves an honorary Oscar for this nature-inspired ensemble.

Tonight, the 50-year-old actress attended the 93rd annual Academy Awards in Los Angeles. King walked the red carpet in a stunning light blue dress by Louis Vuitton, which is giving us major butterfly vibes.

The custom design features diamond-embellished stripes that cascade down the entire gown. The real showstoppers are the winged sleeves, which complement the V-neck silhouette.

King completed the look with accessories from Forevermark Jewelry, which included earrings, bracelet and rings. She styled her hair in a slick bob (natch).

Back in 2019, King won the Oscar Award for Best Actress when she starred in If Beale Street Could Talk. This year, she’ll only serve as a presenter because she didn’t receive any nominations.

This caused some controversy, since many believe King deserved major recognition for her stellar directional debut in Amazon Prime’s One Night in Miami. She would have been honored among the likes of Lee Isaac Chung for Minari, Emerald Fennell for Promising Young Woman, David Fincher for Mank, Thomas Vinterberg for Another Round and Chloé Zhao for Nomadland.

Although the movie received three other nominations—Best Supporting Actor (Leslie Odom Jr.), Best Original Song (“Speak Now” by Odom Jr. and Sam Ashworth) and Best Adapted Screenplay (Kemp Powers)—we can’t help but feel like she was snubbed by the Academy.

On the bright side, King is already at the top of our “Best Dressed” list.
