The ‘90s were a simpler time. It was the age of grunge, cassette tapes and Limited Too. And Reese Witherspoon’s latest throwback Thursday pic really transported us to that erstwhile era.
Yesterday, the 44-year-old Little Fires Everywhere star indulged fans in a little #TBT treat on her Instagram account and shared what just might be the most ’90s photo on the internet.
Witherspoon captioned this gem, “There’s a lot to unpack here. I mean...what is happening with my hair? But most importantly...who else enjoyed this 90’s brown lipstick trend?#tbt”
Celebs were quick to show their appreciation for Witherspoon’s dedication to the trends of the era. The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel star Rachel Brosnahan wrote, “Honestly, I vote we bring back this hair.” Witherspoon’s Big Little Lies co-star Zoë Kravitz chimed in, saying, “omg STOP!!!! SO IMPORTANT!!!!!” Jennifer Lopez took a moment to reminisce about brown lipstick’s role in her own life and answered Witherspoon’s question, writing, “I did…warm autumn colors.” Natalie Portman added, “Cutest” and Alyssa Milano mused, “I think I was there that night.” Olivia Wilde admitted, “I remember trying HARD to copy this look at home and it…didn’t work out well.”
As Witherspoon’s Little Fires Everywhere co-star Kerri Washington put it, “This is every 90’s trend wrapped up in one photo.”
The Oscar winner’s blast from the past appears to have possibly sparked a new trend. Celebrity hairstylist Jen Atkin wrote, “Ummm I might recreate this,” though we have no idea where she’d start with an up-do that features a side swoop and chunky tendrils.
