Royal Family Releases Haunting Photo of Prince William Standing Alone at Dawn for Anzac Day

Prince William stood in silence this morning to honor soldiers who lost their lives in battle.

Today, the Prince of Wales attended the Anzac Day ceremony held at Hyde Park in London. In case you are unfamiliar with the holiday, Anzac Day is a national day of remembrance for every Australian and New Zealand soldier who has died in all wars, conflicts and peacekeeping operations.

A stand-out in a series of photos shared on the royal couple’s Instagram page, the first haunting pic in the slideshow shows Prince William, 40, alone at dawn, bowing his head in a moment of silence. While taking the time to honor the fallen soldiers, the royal prince can be seen wearing a dark navy trench coat with a matching pair of slacks and black loafers.

The second photo shows the prince with the High Commissioners from Australia and New Zealand as they stand together and honor all the soldiers’ lives lost in combat. The caption read: “Remembering Australian and New Zealand soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice. Lest we forget. #AnzacDay.”

According to People magazine, the Dawn Service at Wellington Arch featured the performance of the nations’ national anthems. The ceremony ended with the Prince of Wales signing the book of remembrance while music was performed on a didgeridoo, which is an Australian Aboriginal wind instrument.

Per the publication, the celebration of Anzac Day in London has been a tradition since King George V personally attended the first service at Westminster Abbey in the year 1916.

A beautiful photo to accompany a beautiful service.
