This looks familiar...

This time last year, the royal family released a haunting photo of Prince William standing alone at dawn while attending the Anzac Day ceremony (which honors the memory of every fallen Australian and New Zealander soldier who has died in all wars/conflicts) in Hyde Park, London.

Fast forward to 2024’s Anzac Day ceremony. While the Prince of Wales was notably absent from the annual service, which took place at the New Zealand Memorial earlier today, King Charles’s younger brother, Prince Edward, stepped in to take his place. And from what I can see, the Duke of Edinburgh has seemingly taken a page from his nephew’s book.

A chilling snapshot of the 60-year-old royal was taken during the ceremony. The photo (snapped by royal photographer Chris Jackson) shows Prince Edward standing alone at dawn with his head held high. He is also wearing a long trench coat with a white collared shirt underneath. The prince paired the ensemble with a matching pair of blue slacks and black shiny loafer shoes.

Meanwhile, the royal family posted separate photos taken at the ceremony on social media for royal admirers (like myself) to see. The first slide features a photo of Prince Edward bending down to place a ceremonial wreath in front of the Cenotaph.

In the caption, the royal fam shared more details about the annual event, writing, “Today, The Duke of Edinburgh attended #anzacday commemorations in London, marking the anniversary of the Gallipoli landings. His Royal Highness laid a wreath at the Cenotaph on behalf of The King and attended the Service of Commemoration and Thanksgiving at @westminsterabbeylondon.”
