Exclusive: We Asked Mindy Kaling if She’d Rather Hang with Reese Witherspoon or Oprah & Her Answer Was Classic

Some things are impossible to choose between: a litter of puppies or kittens, unlimited cheese or rosé, or an afternoon with Reese Witherspoon or Oprah Winfrey. The Big Little Lies star has all the hot Monterey gossip and Queen O is, well, a queen. But when we recently sat down with Mindy Kaling to discuss her new partnership with joy (the millennial-pink razors that make shaving your legs way more fun), we had to ask who she would rather spend some quality time with.

After chatting all about her daughter Katherine’s preschool applications and her upcoming movie with Priyanka Chopra, we posed a very difficult question to Kaling: Would you rather go on a road trip to Monterey with Witherspoon or build a bookshelf (like the one Katherine has) with Oprah?

It would be a tough decision for anyone, let alone Kaling, who starred with both icons in the 2018 Disney film, A Wrinkle in Time.

Kaling took a moment to weigh her options, saying, “A road trip with Monterey or build a bookshelf with Oprah? Oh, God.”

Ultimately, however, she went for the gold and selected a day of building with Oprah over a quick getaway with Witherspoon (hey, they’ve already done that anyway).

“I mean, Oprah in overalls with a hammer and nails? I kind of think that,” Kaling answered. She added, “Reese would understand,” and we totally have to agree.

The best case scenario would be a road trip with all three multi-hyphenates that culminated in a group bookcase-building opportunity. Um, did we just pitch a new movie, because we’d totally love to see that?
