Meghan Markle Just Got a New TV Show Offer & It’s Kind of Genius

If you love royals and the Real Housewives franchise, then you’ll get a kick out of the latest news in the Meghan Markle and Prince Harry stepping down from official duty saga.

Upon seeing the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s announcement post, Andy Cohen (aka the brilliant mind behind Real Housewives) officially invited the 38-year-old duchess to join the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. He extended the offer by commenting, “Open invite for The Duchess to join #RHOBH!!!” on their post. Obviously, we have so many questions.

For instance, what would Dorit Kemsley and her “British” accent think? Would Lisa Vanderpump come out of RHOBH retirement to sip rosé onscreen with the duchess? Furthermore, how would “Countess” Luann de Lesseps react to no longer being the highest-ranking titled woman in the franchise? There’s a lot to think about.

Alas, it’s unlikely that we’ll ever get answers. Although Cohen sent along the invitation and Prince Harry and Markle’s updated media regulations, outlined on their brand-new website, say they’re game for TV appearances, interviews and the like, it’s unlikely that Markle would deign to join the Real Housewives ranks. Sure, she and her husband are now financially responsible for themselves, but we’re assuming she goes the Oprah or Michelle Obama route, not the way of actress-turned-real-housewife Denise Richards.

Still, it’s fun to think of a world in which the Duchess of Sussex has a quippy tagline (“I may be royal, but I don’t adhere to protocol!”) and a penchant for having a few too many cocktails while lunching with the gals.

Perhaps it’s worth starting a new royals-centered franchise, Andy?
