It meant something to us, too

Before she was royal, Meghan Markle was Rachel Zane—and for fans of the hit USA Network series, Suits, her fictional alter ego is the Meghan identity they cherish the most.

That’s exactly why it was a total delight to hear Meghan speak of her affection for the original series, which ran from 2011 to 2019, in a brand-new interview with People, published this week. In it, she speaks about the lifelong friendships she gained (Meghan and costar Abigail Spencer remain incredibly close) and her enthusiasm for the upcoming Suits LA reboot (“I love that it gets a new breath of fresh air,” Meghan remarks).

Still, the big reveal is about the on-set item she couldn’t part ways with. “[Suits] is a time capsule for me—I still have the pencil skirt from the first episode! That’s the one thing I kept,” Meghan says. (The way we screamed! After all, if there’s one thing that Meghan’s character was known for, it was her professional and polished legal attire.)

Her conversation with People comes on the eve of the debut of her brand-new Netflix series, With Love, Meghan, which is set to start streaming on Tuesday, March 4. In the interview, Meghan spoke about that learning curve, too: “I was never really in front of the camera like this,” she shared, reflecting on the contrast with her role on the legal drama.

Bottom line: We’ll take any Suits mention we can get from Meghan. Also, a reminder—per the show’s creator, Aaron Korsh—that the door is always open for a Rachel Zane return.
