In the vid, Markle recounts the story of meeting a family whose home was destroyed in the recent California wildfires. During her encounter with the fam, the duchess met a 15-year-old girl who had lost her favorite Billie Eilish shirt in the fire, along with everything else. So, Markle made it her mission to contact Eilish (by sharing a voice note with her famous friends) and get the young woman a new Eilish shirt. And in a great turn of fortune, it seems the plan was a big success.
Markle captioned the video, "Let’s keep supporting those affected by the California wildfires. Thanks to everyone who made this possible but most importantly, thank you to our first responders who are the community’s real heroes." She signed her personal message, "As ever, Meghan."
It's no surprise that Markle has taken an interest in helping those affected by the devastating fires. In mid-January, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex made a visit to the Pasadena Convention Center, which was being used as an evacuation site. While there, the pair embraced and spoke with community members affected by the raging fires. They also volunteered to distribute free meals alongside World Central Kitchen (WCK) founder José Andrés, who has previously partnered with the Archewell Foundation.
