The Hairstylist Behind Meghan Markle’s Famous Messy Bun Just Shared a Heartfelt Tribute to Her on Instagram

In case you missed it, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are officially through with royal duty. And while Buckingham Palace is no longer commenting on the couple, one of the Duchess of Sussex’s most trusted associates is speaking out for the first time.

On Wednesday, the 38-year-old’s hairstylist, George Northwood, penned a heartfelt goodbye post to the duchess and her family.

“It has been an enormous privilege and a lot of fun working with The Duke and Duchess of Sussex over the past two years,” he captioned an Instagram post of Meghan and Harry. “I have enjoyed every minute collaborating with this amazing couple who not only champion small businesses but have taught me so much about diversity, equality and the importance of good mental health. Here are a few of their many wonderful moments that I was honoured to be a part of. ⁣”⁣

Of course, he couldn’t forget about baby Archie. The hairstylist made sure to include the 10-month-old in his well-wishes portion of the post. “Harry, Meghan and Archie, wishing you much love and luck for your next exciting chapter! Can’t wait to see you one day soon—and so happy to now be able to share about our special time together,” he continued.

Northwood, who has remained tight-lipped on his relationship with the couple until now, also spoke with British Vogue about creating hairstyles for the duchess. He even revealed the inspiration behind that now-famous messy bun

“The messy bun purely came off the back of making the hair both appropriate and adhering to royal protocol, and modern at the same time,” he stated. “We wanted it to be up, because a lot of the time it was appropriate for it to be up, but we didn’t want it to be too formal. We always wanted it to be refined imperfection—that’s what sums her up.”

Mystery solved.
