Lorena Bobbitt’s Story Finally Gets Told in New Amazon Docuseries—& We Have the Trailer

In 1993, Lorena Bobbitt became a fixture in the zeitgeist when she cut off her then-husband, John’s, penis while he slept. Now, a new Amazon docuseries from executive producer Jordan Peele (Get Out) titled Lorena explores the story behind the infamous case: What led Bobbitt to do what she did and how has the perspective of the case shifted in the wake of the #MeToo and Time’s Up movements?

In the four-part docuseries, Bobbitt personally sheds light on her public nightmare and revisits the missed opportunity for starting a cultural conversation on domestic and sexual abuse her experience proposed.

In a press release, Peele called the series a “platform to tell her truth,” and said Lorena will focus on “gender dynamics, abuse, and her demand for justice.”

Lorena premieres on Amazon Prime Friday, February 15, following its January 29 world premiere at Sundance Film Festival.

We’re definitely tuning in.
