It’s been almost a full month since we’ve seen a pre-recorded episode of Live with Kelly and Ryan. However, that streak ended today, because Kelly Ripa and Ryan Seacrest apparently filmed this morning’s installment ahead of time.
Yup. While both the 50-year-old TV personality and her 45-year-old co-host were present for Thursday’s episode, it was revealed in a behind-the-scenes clip that the episode was filmed “earlier in the week.”
In the video, which was shared by producers on the Live Instagram page, we see Ripa looking chic in a Ba&sh top, Loeffler Randall feather belt and a Hervé Legér skirt as she waits for filming to begin. “Today’s show is all-new previously recorded earlier in the week,” the post’s caption read.
Unfortunately, it has not been revealed why Thursday’s episode was not live, but it was clearly planned for since the show organized to shoot it on Monday or Tuesday. As we mentioned above, this isn’t the first time the series has aired previously recorded episodes. In fact, both January 7 and January 8 episodes were also not live.
And while fans seemed to have questions about the choice to air pre-recorded footage last time, they didn’t seem bothered by the decision this time around. The comments section was, instead, filled with praise for the episode. One user wrote, “Good morning to you both love your show,” while another added, “Kelly looks so gorgeous, so much fun today.”
Whatever the reason, we’re hoping to get a live episode tomorrow (and to see Ryan back and healthy as ever).
