It’s been over 15 years since Lady Gaga and Beyoncé delighted ears with “Telephone,” the electrifying collab that took over the charts—and our playlists. Now, the song (and its cinematic music video) is back in the spotlight, thanks to a recent interview with Gaga herself.

During Vanity Fair’s popular lie detector test segment, the Joker star was asked about the video’s infamous cliffhanger ending. Not even two minutes into the interview, they got straight to the point: “The music video for ‘Telephone’ ended with ‘To be continued.’ Will it ever actually be continued?”

Without hesitation, Gaga responded: “Yes.”

Naturally, this would excite any fan but before anyone starts planning watch parties, there’s just one small catch: we have no idea when this sequel is happening.

When asked if she had any details on the timeline, Gaga simply said, “I don’t know.” Not exactly the clarity one would hope for, but the interviewer wasn’t ready to let it go just yet. Pressing for more info, they showed a picture of Beyoncé and asked she would be involved. Gaga’s response? “Maybe.”

Attempting to get some clarification on what has taken so long, the interviewer persisted, “Is it taking forever because of scheduling conflicts with Beyoncé?” Gaga shut that theory down with a simple, “No.”

As a refresher, “Telephone” dropped in 2010, just two years after the duo teamed up for Beyoncé's song "Video Phone." "Telephone" earned a Grammy nomination for Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals. The nearly 10-minute video served as a follow-up to Gaga’s 2009 hit “Paparazzi,” featuring Beyoncé breaking Gaga out of jail before the duo poisons an entire diner’s breakfast. The video ends with them fleeing a high-speed police chase, flashing the “To be continued” message.

With Gaga’s new album, Mayhem, dropping on March 7, could the long-awaited sequel make an appearance? At this point, it’s anyone’s guess—but hey, one can dream.
