Summertime and the living is...quiet, especially if you’re a royal. It’s common knowledge that everyone from King Charles to Kate Middleton and Prince William log off for August, pausing most of their engagements to hole up in royal residences ranging from Balmoral to Anmer Hall. But that’s why it was such a surprise to see Kate interrupt her vacation to share a personal new video on Instagram that celebrates the joys of summer.

She also included a personal note

It was part of her ‘Mother Nature’ series, where, via voiceover, the Princess of Wales speaks to the numerous benefits of the changing seasons and their impact on our mental health. “Summer is a season for abundance. Just as the flowers bloom and the fruits ripen, we too are reminded of our own potential for growth,” Kate narrates as a montage of sweeping landscapes and buzzing bumblebees plays.
She continues on, reminding others of the magic of this particular season: “It is the time to ignite our inner fire and explore our own creativity, passions, and dreams. As we bask in the sunlit hours, friends and families come together: playing, connecting, being present—embracing the joy to be found in even the most fleeting of moments and shared experiences.”

This is the second video to drop in her ongoing series—the first, which was a tribute to spring, came out in mid-March. For her latest, Kate adds a personal caption to the clip, evident by the fact that she signs it with her initial. It reads, “Our lives flourish when we cherish the bonds of love and friendship. It has never been more important to appreciate the value of one another, and of Mother Nature. Here’s to Summer. C.”
It’s hard not to immediately visualize the Wales’s own summer plans. Kate has long been clear about her affinity for nature and talked openly on the Happy Mum, Happy Baby podcast in early 2020 about how she’s happiest when spending time outdoors.

Speaking of her role raising her kids, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, she shared on the show: “That’s what I would want them to remember, those moments with me as a mother, but also the family going to the beach, getting soaking wet, filling our boots full of water, those are what I would want them to remember. Not a stressful household where you’re trying to do everything and not really succeeding at one thing.” Is this what their summer break in Norfolk looks like? It would seem so.
As summer winds down, all we can say is #goals.
