Kate Middleton was among a handful of royals who took part in last week’s Remembrance Day services. And we couldn’t help but notice one major detail about her ensemble for Remembrance Sunday.

This year, Sunday’s special events were attended by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince Charles, Camilla Parker Bowles, Sophie Countess of Wessex, Prince Edward and more. Unfortunately, Queen Elizabeth was unable to attend. In a message from Buckingham Palace, it was revealed that Her Majesty had sprained her back prior to the ceremony.

During the services, members of the royal fam sported all-black ensembles and accessorized with poppy brooches, which honor those who have died at war. However, if you noticed that Middleton wore multiple poppies on her lapel, there's a likely explanation. While it hasn’t been confirmed, Hello! magazine theorizes that multiple brooches represent the number of family members who have fought and died in wars.
