Clutch those pearls! The Princess of Wales, 43, has made headlines for breaking royal protocol (once again). But pomp and circumstance aside, I think we can all agree that, although "highly unusual" per the BBC, Kate Middleton's unexpected interaction with a young child will certainly warm your heart.
Kate Middleton Breaks Protocol with ‘Highly Unusual Move’ After 3-Year-Old Girl Calls Out for Her at Event
And it involves a banana

Following an official visit to Corgi knitwear and sock factory in Ammanford, Carmarthenshire, Princess Catherine actually stopped and heeded the call of 3-year-old Lily-Rose, who had been crying out to her. Instead of maintaining the usual distance expected proceeding a royal engagement, Kate directly engaged with the girl.

Per the BBC, the princess jogged over to shake Lily-Rose's hand and said: "I heard you say 'hello' from all the way back there and I wanted to come and see you."
But it doesn't end there. Like any good story, this one involves a banana. According to reports, Lily-Rose then handed the princess her toy banana. When Kate returned it to her, the 3-year-old—being a 3-year-old—tossed it on the ground, and none other than the Princess of Wales bent down to retrieve it.

This move, though seemingly small, is considered a breach of traditional protocol, as royals typically maintain a level of formality in public settings.
As mentioned, this is not the first time Kate has been seen making exceptions for children (she's even had an influence on Prince William!). Known for her warm and approachable demeanor, she has frequently crouched down to speak with kids at eye level—a parenting technique she has used with her own children as well as during royal engagements.
Just before the Corgi moment, the Princess of Wales visited the Tŷ Hafan Children's Hospice, where the Welsh organization announced that Her Royal Highness will become a Patron. In an Instagram post about the appointment, Chief Executive, Irfon Reese, said: "As our Patron, Her Royal Highness will be an inspiration for children with life-shortening conditions and their families, our dedicated staff and volunteers and everyone who so generously supports us."
I'm not crying... you are.
