Not One, But Two Former ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Favorites Are Returning for the Finale

This just in: Jesse Williams and Sarah Drew are returning to Grey’s Anatomy.

According to Deadline, the duo will reprise their roles as Jackson Avery and April Kepner (AKA “Japril”) on the season 18 finale of Grey’s Anatomy, which will air on May 26.

The last time they appeared on the show was last season, when Jackson said farewell to Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital. (Although Drew left before Williams, she returned as a guest star for his last episode.)

At the time, Jackson left Grey’s Anatomy to work at his family’s foundation in Boston. April followed Jackson to the east coast, so she could be close to their daughter, Harriet. Although ABC hasn’t shared any details about their upcoming appearance, many fans want the characters to rekindle their relationship.

This isn’t the first time we’ve heard about a potential Japril reunion. When Williams originally left the show, he sat down for an interview with Deadline and admitted that he’s open to returning as a guest star. “I think it’s totally possible. You never know how things will shake out,” he said. “There’s a lot of other factors at play, including schedules and stuff, but I love the idea of keeping that option open.”

Williams even teased the possibility of Jackson and April getting back together. “I think it’s pretty possible that he rekindles a romantic connection to his ex-wife, they’re damn good together, but most importantly what he needs from that is friendship and kindness, and patience, and understanding, and I think that he will get that with her and be able to share and give and reciprocate it as well,” he continued.

Welcome back, you two.
