The trailer shows the interns preparing to meet a renowned doctor, who is being flown in for a surgery. “Who do you think it is?” one intern says. Another adds, “Definitely someone big.”
Right on cue, Addison struts down the hallway and says, “I’m Dr. Addison Montgomery and you must be the group that’s been screwing up the program.”
The clip doesn’t give too much away, but it does confirm that Addison will face a crisis in the operating room. “The A/C is out,” Dr. Richard Webber (James Pickens, Jr.) says. “The whole hospital is down. How long will it take you to close?”
When Addison brushes him off, Richard explains that the A/C is connected to the air filtration system. He continues, “You need to close her as soon as possible to prevent infection.”
Still, Addison is adamant about finishing the procedure, saying, “I’m not stopping until this is transplanted.” When Richard suggests she pick up the pace, Addison asks for help from an unexpected frenemy: Dr. Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo).
“Get me Meredith Grey,” she says.
The guest appearance shouldn’t come as a huge surprise, especially since ABC previously revealed that Walsh is reprising her role in season 18. And she’s not the only one who is making a well-deserved comeback. There’s also Ellis Grey (Kate Burton) and Nick Marsh (Scott Speedman), who both returned in the premiere.
Oh, how we’ve missed you (and your snarky tone), Addison. Grey’s Anatomy airs on Thursdays at 9 p.m. on ABC.
