Jennifer Aniston Reveals Which ‘Friends’ Co-Star She Had a Crush on—and When They Had Their First Kiss

Ross and Rachel fans were rooting for the couple all along, but what they didn't know is that there may have been some sparks going on behind the scenes.

The Friends: The Reunion special finally premiered on HBO Max, and one of the most revealing questions involved secret crushes. Host James Corden asked the group if there were any romances between cast members, saying, “You were all young, hot, good-looking, successful actors, so it's inconceivable to me that there weren't, perhaps, off-screen romances.” Jennifer Aniston, whose eyes widened at the question, immediately deflected to David Schwimmer, saying, “Uh, well, I mean—David?”

Schwimmer, with a smile, said, “I mean, the first season, I had a major crush on Jen,” to which Aniston responded, “It was reciprocated.” He continued, “At some point, we were both crushing hard on each other, but it was like two ships passing, because one of us was always in a relationship and we never crossed that boundary, you know. We respected that."

However, the camera panned to co-star Matt LeBlanc, who reached for his mug and muttered "Bullsh*t" under his breath.

The clip was shared on the HBO Max Instagram, where they said: “This is the history lesson I didn’t know I needed. Catch the entire story on Friends: The Reunion, streaming now on HBO Max. #FriendsReunion.”

In the special, Aniston revealed further details about a conversation she had with Schwimmer, saying, “Honestly, I remember saying one time to David, 'It's going to be such a bummer if the first time you and I actually kiss is going to be on national television.' Sure enough, first time we kissed was in that coffee shop.”

However, there was certainly some flirting on set. Schwimmer said, “When we had breaks from rehearsal, there were moments where we would cuddle on the couch...I'm thinking, 'How did not everyone know we were crushing on each other?'”

Still, nothing ever developed, which co-star Courteney Cox said probably worked out for the best. “If you had [acted on it] and it didn't work out, it would have not probably been as great [on the show],” she said. Aniston added, “We just channeled all of our adoration and love for each other into Ross and Rachel.”

We don't know about you, but now we can't stop thinking about a real-life Ross and Rachel romance.
