Issa Rae’s Engagement Ring Was Fully on Display at a ‘Little’ Screening

According to Alastair Smith, founder of Ringspo.com, Rae’s ring is a distinctive split shank cushion diamond in a halo setting. He estimates that her center stone is about 1.5 carats and the melee diamonds around the halo and pave band add about another half carat. He says that even with a high-quality diamond, the ring likely cost Diame about $15,000 to $17,000.

Although mum has been the word for Rae and Diame, her Insecure co-stars Yvonne Orji (Molly) and Jay Ellis (Lawrence) confirmed the engagement at the NAACP Image Awards last weekend. “We’re very excited for her,” Orji shared.

Ellis went on to explain, “We all found out in different ways because we’re all on different text chains. We talk at different times, so we all found out at different times in different ways.”

Rae and Diame, a Senegalese businessman, have been dating for about six years and have kept their relationship extremely private. Rae told Marie Claire last April, “I get so much feedback about everything. The one thing I don’t need feedback on is who I’m sleeping with.”

When she was asked about her engagement during a visit to The View earlier this week, she brushed the question off, saying, “I’ve got a lot of rings on my finger. I wear jewelry, you know?”
