Hilary Duff Shares Official Trailer for New ‘HIMYM’ Spinoff ‘How I Met Your Father’

Get ready, How I Met Your Mother fans. If you've missed the crew that used to hang out at MacLaren's, Hulu has a new series that might help.

While we won't see the return of the original cast members, a new spin-off series, titled How I Met Your Father, is coming to the streaming service on January 18. And the star-studded show—featuring names like Hilary Duff, Kim Cattrall, Josh Peck and more—just got its first official trailer.

Duff shared the clip to her Instagram account, saying, “I couldn’t be more obsessed with this pack of weirdos and I am very proud of our show! Everyone involved has added something special and holy moly JANUARY 18th here we come!!!! (I would tag you all but I’m still on vacation and there’s a lot of us!).”

In the series, Cattrall narrates the show as the future version of Duff's character, Sophie. “This is the story of how I met your father,” she says at the beginning of the clip. “It was hard to live in the moment in 2022. There was always someplace else you could be, someone else you could be with.”

In the trailer, we see Duff and the rest of her close-knit friends, including Peck, Chris Lowell, Francia Raisa, Suraj Sharma, Tien Tran and Tom Ainsley, taking advantage of the city and getting into all sorts of shenanigans.

The presence of Cattrall is an exciting choice, given that she was absent from the new Sex and the City reboot, And Just Like That... Two of PureWow's editors discuss Cattrall's absence and the other aspects of the show in a new podcast, titled And Just Like That…A Sex and the City Reboot Podcast (with the latest episode being recorded prior to the allegations made against Chris Noth).

It's beginning to feel a lot like spin-off season.
