Elizabeth Olsen First Met Her Now-Fiancé at the Airport After Very Nearly Skipping the Trip

It’s a meet cute you’d typically find on-screen, not off: Elizabeth Olsen was flying to Mexico with friends when she ran smack-dab into her now-fiancé, musician Robbie Arnett...at the airport gate.

PureWow had the chance to catch up with the Sorry for Your Loss star while she was in New York City to promote her partnership with American Express and Delta Air Lines as they celebrate the relaunch of the Delta SkyMiles American Express Card portfolio, which kicks off in January 2020. 

And while on the subject of frequent-flier miles, we had to ask Olsen: What’s her most memorable vacation booked using points?

That’s when she dished about the serendipitous moment she met Arnett three years ago: “I used points to go to San Jose Del Cabo—and that’s where I met my fiancé,” she laughs. “I saw him in the terminal. So, actually, I met him while using my miles.”

The irony is that, originally, Olsen was on the fence about joining for the trip. “My friend invited me and I didn’t want to go, but I justified it because I could fly with miles,” she says. “[My fiancé] wasn’t a stranger in the airport, though. He was with my friend and going on the same trip.”

Moral of the story: Life can feel like a romantic comedy every now and again.
