Here’s How Meghan Markle’s Mom, Doria Ragland, Is Handling the Arrival of Baby Sussex

After what felt like an insanely long pregnancy, Meghan Markle has finally given birth to her first child with Prince Harry. And now, the royal family is dishing on how the 37-year-old duchess’s mom, Doria Ragland, feels about the news.

Earlier today, the family’s official Instagram account announced that Markle welcomed a baby boy, who weighed in at 7 pounds, 3 ounces. After confirming that great-grandma Queen Elizabeth is “delighted” about the child’s arrival, the royal family revealed that Ragland is adjusting to her role as grandmother A-OK.

The caption read, “The Duchess’s mother, Doria Ragland, who is overjoyed by the arrival of her first grandchild, is with Their Royal Highnesses at Frogmore Cottage. Her Royal Highness and the baby are both doing well.”

The post also confirmed that other members of the royal family were informed of the child’s birth, including Queen Elizabeth, Prince Charles, Camilla Parker Bowles, Prince William and Kate Middleton, along with Princess Diana’s three siblings, Lady Jane Fellowes, Lady Sarah McCorquodale and Earl Spencer.

This morning, Buckingham Palace announced that the 37-year-old duchess gave birth to a healthy baby boy. Unfortunately, not much is known about the location of the delivery. (There have been rumors that Markle would either have a home birth or deliver at Frimley Park Hospital in Surrey County, which is a 30-minute drive away from their new home at Frogmore Cottage in Berkshire, England.)

The birth comes just two weeks after Ragland arrived in London in anticipation of the baby’s birth. Although we knew that Markle was due in late April/early May, all we have to say is…it’s about damn time.
