‘Bridgerton’ Star Charithra Chandran Says Jonathan Bailey Sent a Sweet Text Message Before Their Chemistry Read

Jonathan Bailey stole our hearts in the very first season of Bridgerton, where he was first introduced as the dashing viscount Anthony Bridgerton. Now, his cast member Charithra Chandran is proving the actor’s charm goes beyond the small screen.

In an interview with Bustle, she revealed that Bailey left her a sweet text message before their chemistry read. The 25-year-old actress plays Edwina Sharma, Anthony’s new love interest in the new season.

“Jonny is so generous. He sent me a ‘good luck’ message on Instagram before my chemistry read with him,” she told the publication. “He didn't need to do that, but he knew how daunting it can be, and he just wanted to assure me that everyone was rooting for me.”

Bailey also welcomed actress Simone Ashley (who portrays Edwina’s older sister, Kate Sharma) with a thoughtful surprise. The Sex Education star recently sat down with Glamour UK and shared that he gave her flowers on her first day on set. She found a creative way to return the favor, and in doing so, started a sort of on-set tradition.

“I would always leave him his favorite snacks in his trailer,” the actress said. “We had a very unspoken rhythm going on in that sense, leaving gifts in each other’s trailers.”

Bridgerton season two follows Anthony’s quest to find a wife. Edwina seems like the perfect match for the viscount, being that she checks all the boxes on his list. But soon, sparks begin to fly between Anthony and her sister Kate, creating the ultimate love triangle.

Bridgerton season two is streaming now on Netflix.
