Country artist Carrie Underwood received her Hollywood Walk of Fame star yesterday and broke down in tears during her acceptance speech.
The expecting mama (she just announced she’s pregnant with her second child last month) is the 2,646th celebrity to receive a star, according to People, literally cementing her fame with more than 13 years of country music experience under her belt. Since winning American Idol back in 2005, she’s added a few trophies to her collection: seven Grammys, six Country Music Awards and 14 Academy of Country Music Awards…NBD.
The star-unveiling ceremony took place on September 20, with Simon Cowell (former American Idol judge) and fellow country music star and Underwood’s longtime CMA co-host Brad Paisley giving speeches applauding Underwood’s success.
But it wasn’t until the 35-year-old singer took the stage that she got teary-eyed. “How is this my life? How does a girl from Checotah, Oklahoma, get a star on the Walk of Fame?” Underwood said. “I will tell you: belief. So many people who have believed in me.”
