The 2019 Screen Actors Guild Awards had a Louis Vuitton harness, Girl Scout cookies and an epic meeting of the Jacks. That’s right: Bradley Cooper, who played Jackson “Jack” Maine in A Star Is Born, and Milo Ventimiglia, who portrays the beloved Jack Pearson on This Is Us, met in the flesh.
Although it’s unclear what they talked about (Mandy Moore? Cooper’s dog Charlie? 100 people in a room? Playing a Jack?), their conversation obviously went well. Both stars brought it in and solidified their nascent bromance with a hug.
So, what led to this red carpet meeting? Their respective nominations, of course. Cooper was nominated for Outstanding Performance in a Leading Role in a Motion Picture for A Star Is Born (which was also his directorial debut). Unfortunately, Cooper lost out to Rami Malek and his Bohemian Rhapsody performance. On the plus side, Ventimiglia and the rest of the This Is Us cast took home the award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series (duh).
Although Cooper missed winning an Actor, his weekend wasn’t all bad. On Saturday, the Oscar-nominated star performed “Shallow” with his A Star Is Born co-star Lady Gaga to close out her Enigma residency show in Las Vegas. She typically ends each performance with the song, but this was the first time Cooper joined her on stage.
