All eyes were on Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga Sunday night at the Oscars when they performed “Shallow” from their hit film A Star Is Born.

Afterward, during a conversation with reporters in the Oscars press room, Gaga revealed the sweet advice her co-star secretly gave her during rehearsals the day before. And no, it wasn’t break a leg.

“‘One of the hardest things in life is to be brave enough to be yourself. I wish to everyone that is going to that celebration to feel a joy inside of them,’” Gaga recalled Cooper saying.

“That’s actually what Bradley said to me yesterday, right before we did our last rehearsal for this performance of ‘Shallow,’” she continued. “He said, ‘Let’s just drop a little bit of joy.’ And I said, ‘OK.’ And turns out, joy did a whole lot for me.”

OK, talk about an inspiring pep talk. Cooper channeled his inner Marie Kondo with that one. But it clearly worked, because the performance sparked joy in the entire audience. The duo were praised with a standing ovation while they smiled, hugged and walked off the stage.

Not to mention the song itself also clinched the Best Original Song Oscar for Gaga. Joy indeed.
