She doesn’t just look good in a chambray buttondown and cook the kind of meals that make us wish we had an open invitation into her home. Ina Garten has impeccable timing too.
The Barefoot Contessa’s 12th cookbook, Modern Comfort Food, will be published in two weeks’ time. To tide us over until then (and because we’re all desperate for a pick-me-up), Garten shared a glimpse of what we’ll find inside.

This is just the kind of festive-yet-classy autumnal recipe that we’ve been looking for, Ina. It’s as easy as simmering store-bought apple cider with a few warm spices, adding a splash (or generous glug) of bourbon and calling it a day. We can definitely see ourselves sipping a few of these on the porch as the weather cools down.
Garten’s newest collection of recipes will also include crowd-pleasers like Smashed Hamburgers with Caramelized Onions, Cheddar and Chutney Grilled Cheese Sandwiches, Banana Rum Trifle and Black and White Cookies (all with an effortless Ina twist). And lucky for us all, the book is actually being released two weeks earlier than originally intended, because no one knows how to read a room like Ina does.
