Fall is the season of “new.” New television shows (The Affair can’t get here soon enough), a new academic year (the summer never fails to fly by) and, of course, new cool-weather fashions (dare we say we’ve missed our sweaters just a bit?). So we teamed up with White House Black Market to show you what to wear every day of the week this fall. Consider this your first back-to-school lesson.
7 Outfits to Bust Out This Fall
The upcoming trends to know and love
Monday: The Updated Pantsuit
It’s all about going back to basics with a traditional, professional pantsuit--only this time with a more flattering fit and a bolder look. (We’re talking everything from shell blouses to double-breasted jackets.) The trend just so happens to be totally comfortable and fashion forward outside the office, too.
Tuesday: A Patchwork-inspired Ensemble
While we go bananas for a good patchwork, we’re the first to admit it can come off a bit unkempt in a professional setting. Make sure you find a pattern reminiscent of patchwork (think colorblocked squares) that gives off a similar collage vibe, only sleeker.

Wednesday: Schoolgirl Layers
The classic schoolgirl look is big this fall, but with a mature twist. For work, opt for a crisp button-down beneath a wool jumper. In a more casual setting, give it some ’70s flair with denim and suede. Whichever you choose, you can’t go wrong with a dress-and-collar combo.
Thursday: The Matching Skirt Set
In this case, more of a good thing is great. Namely when it comes to pattern continuity through separates. It’s the new monochromatic look and it’s especially cute with skirts and even matchy-matchy jackets.
Friday: Shades Of Tan
Tan is this season’s winning neutral. And when you put together an outfit using various shades of this hue, you benefit from the ’70s trend without coming across as a blob of beige. Trust: It’s not as risky as it might sound.
Saturday: The Skinny Leather Pant
If you hadn’t noticed, this fall is all about standing out in subtle ways. Polished skinny leather pants are a designated cool-girl classic that pair perfectly with an oversized gray sweater. Balance is key.
Sunday: The Upscale Bohemian Look
Think flowy and breezy--the best characteristics of boho style--but in a much classier way than your average hippie. Loose sleeves, scoop necks and fitted bellbottoms should be the staples of your weekend wardrobe this fall.
