All across Los Angeles, plus-size fashions are getting major focus. From the Echo Park boutique where an illustrator turns out witty, wearable styles (from XS to 5X) to Nordstrom in Century City, where luxe labels up to size 18 are featured, we’re suddenly woke, size-wise. Here’s where you’ll want to shop.
5 Places to Shop for Size-Inclusive (and Sexy-Cool) Outfits in Los Angeles
Crisp Dresses At Tuesday Bassen
This new shop is run by the L.A.-based illustrator (for legit outlets like The New Yorker) whose name is on the door. Bassen’s shirts, skirts and frocks (in XXS to 5XL) are based on iconic shapes, like the shirtdress modeled on an old-school waitress uniform; many feature her drawings. Basically, anything from here is going to brighten your closet and add a touch of punk insouciance to your wardrobe.

Loose Jumpsuits At Ali Golden
Located just next door to Tuesday Bassen’s shop, Ali Golden is the second outpost of a San Francisco designer who creates the no-waist jumpsuits that are beloved by pregnant women and ladies who just want to feel breezy in the heat. The large corresponds to a roomy size 14, and with the recent heat wave, we’re grateful for this cool staple piece.

Reformation Brings The Wrap Dresses
This local “It” girl favorite partnered with model Ali Tate Cutler to make a capsule collection of cute summer dresses (like this red wrap situation) in sizes up to 3X. This collection is still in stock, and while most of the brand’s pieces still are tailored to size-zero starlets, we see this collection, which started in response to customers asking for more inclusive sizing, as a sign of great things to come.
Madewell’s Super Separates
While Madewell got lots of attention for its recent Curvy denim line, designed with a bit of a higher waist for ample bottoms, we’re amped that the line isn’t just paying lip service to the idea of size inclusiveness. The evidence? It’s making a wide range of its pieces in plus sizes, from summertime essentials like this striped top to the new collab with New Zealand’s Karen Walker.
Integrated Everything At Nordstrom
The days of plus-size shoppers’ choices being corralled into a special section are going bye-bye. The new Century City Nordstrom has taken the unheard-of step in luxury department store shopping by including extended sizing alongside standard sizes, so no more racing over to the plus-size section if you’re looking for a size-32 pair of Rag & Bone jeans. This goes for activewear, too, as Nike, Adidas and Beyond Yoga are now available in XXL sizes as well—because leggings are the LBD of L.A. fashion.
