Before she was slaying the red carpet, breaking our hearts in Netflix's The Politician and starring alongside stars like Zac Efron, Zoey Deutch was a Disney kid, playing small roles in shows like The Suite Life of Zack and Cody.
But it wasn’t long before she got her big break in film, making her one of the most popular up-and-coming stars. Here, 17 Zoey Deutch movies, from 2011 to today.
1. Mayor Cupcake (2011)
Deutch plays the daughter of a hard-working cupcake maker (Lea Thompson) who is inadvertently elected mayor of a small town burdened with debt. Yikes. Oh, and did we mention Thompson is Deutch's real-life mom?
2. Beautiful creatures (2013)
For her first big break in the movie industry, Deutch played Emily Asher in this romantic fantasy film. Based on the original novel of the same name, the film follows Ethan Wate (Alden Ehrenreich) as he meets and falls for Lena Duchannes (Alice Englert) who has supernatural powers that are beyond her control. Oh, and Viola Davis, Emma Thompson, Rachel Brosnahan, Emmy Rossum and Jeremy Irons also star. Pretty impressive.
3. Vampire academy (2014)
Rose Hathaway (Deutch) is a half human-half vampire and a guardian of the Moroi (peaceful, mortal vampires living discreetly within our world). Her job? Protect the Moroi (including her BFF) from bloodthirsty, immortal vampires. We’re not kidding.
4. Everybody Wants Some!! (2016)
In 1980, a group of college baseball players navigates their way through the freedoms and responsibilities of unsupervised adulthood. One of the love interests? Deutch’s character Beverly.
5. Good Kids (2016)
Deutch (Nora) stars alongside Nicholas Braun (Andy) as high school students looking to redefine themselves after graduation. Sounds familiar...
6. Vincent N Roxxy (2016)
Deutch has a secondary role in this film about a small-town loner (Emile Hirsch) and a rebellious punk rocker (Zoë Kravitz) who unexpectedly fall in love and are forced on the run.
7. Dirty Grandpa (2016)
Robert De Niro and Zac Efron make for quite the comedy duo. When a dirty-minded Grandpa (De Niro) wants to take his grandson (Efron) to Daytona to escape his uptight life run by his controlling fiancé, the duo find themselves in the midst of a wild spring break full of frat parties, bar fights and college girls. Deutch plays Shadia, Efron’s potential love interest. And yes, Zac’s abs make an appearance.
8. Why him? (2016)
During the holidays, loving but overprotective Ned (Bryan Cranston) travels to California to visit his daughter Stephanie (Deutch) at school. While there, he’s introduced to Stephanie’s multimillionaire (and often inappropriate) boyfriend, Laird (James Franco). Eventually, Ned learns of Laird’s intentions to marry his daughter—and chaos ensues. Obviously.
9. Before I Fall (2017)
February 12 is just another day in Sam's (Deutch) charmed life, until it turns out to be her last. Stuck reliving the day over and over, she untangles the mystery around her death and discovers everything she's losing.
10. The Year of Spectacular Men (2017)
Young Izzy Klein (Madelyn Deutch) is fresh out of college when she strikes up and ruins relationships with several men. She struggles to navigate the failures of post-college adulthood, leaning on her mother (Lea Thompson) and famous older sister (Deutch) for support.
11. Rebel in the Rye (2017)
Based on a true story, the film follows Author J.D. Salinger (Nicholas Hoult) as he leads a reclusive lifestyle after the success of his popular and controversial novel "The Catcher in the Rye." Deutch plays Salinger’s love interest, Oona O’Neill.
12. Flower (2017)
Flower follows a quick-witted Erica Vandross (Deutch), a 17-year-old living with her single mom, Laurie, and her mom's new boyfriend, Bob, in Los Angeles. When Bob's son arrives from rehab to live with the family, she learns a dark secret about a teacher at the local high school. Erica and a few of their friends devise a plan to out him to the world. The film also stars Adam Scott (Parks and Recreation) and Kathryn Hahn (Bad Moms).
13. The Disaster artist (2017)
When Greg Sestero (Dave Franco), an aspiring film actor, meets the weird and mysterious Tommy Wiseau (James Franco) in an acting class, they form a unique friendship and travel to Hollywood to make their dreams come true. Although only a small role, Deutch was cast as Bobbi, another student enrolled in the acting class.
14. Set It up (2018)
In this Netflix rom-com, two overworked (and underpaid) assistants, Harper (Zoey Deutch) and Charlie (Glen Powell), come up with a plan to get their bosses off their backs by setting them up with each other. As you can imagine, things don’t quite go according to plan. Not to mention, Lucy Liu (Charlie’s Angels) and Taye Diggs (Empire) also star.
15. the professor (2018)
After learning he has six months to live, college lecturer Richard Brown (Johnny Depp) transforms into a rebellious party animal. Deutch stars as one of Brown’s students, Claire.
16. Zombieland: Double Tap (2019)
Zombie slayers Tallahassee (Woody Harrelson), Columbus (Jesse Eisenberg), Wichita (Emma Stone) and Little Rock (Abigail Breslin) leave the confines of the White House to travel to Graceland in Memphis. Here, they encounter a handful of apocalyptic warriors and survivors (including Deutch’s character, Madison) who they must work together with to fight (you guessed it) more zombies.
17. Buffaloed (2019)
Set in the underworld of debt-collecting, Buffaloed follows homegrown hustler Peg Dahl (Deutch), who will do anything to escape Buffalo, New York. We have to say, we’re getting major Wolf of Wall Street vibes.
