Netflix's New 'Wednesday' Trailer Reintroduces the Addams Family & Things Are Even Darker Than Expected

Yesterday, Netflix dropped the first photo of the (new) Addams Family. And now, the streaming service has blessed us with the first official trailer.

Today, Netflix released a full-length teaser for the upcoming series, titled Wednesday.

The trailer introduces viewers to Wednesday (Jenna Ortega), who is expelled from school after she seeks revenge on the water polo team for bullying her little brother, Pugsley (Isaac Ordonez). “The only person who gets to torture my brother is me,” she says in the clip.

As a result, Wednesday enrolls in the Nevermore Academy for a fresh start, but it’s not as simple as it seems. Not only is she trying to fit in at a new school, but she’s also experimenting with her psychic abilities. Plus, she discovers a dark secret about her family’s past that changes everything.

“Little did I know that I’d be stepping into a nightmare,” Wednesday says. “Full of mystery, mayhem and murder. I think I’m going to love it here.”

The trailer came just one day after Netflix debuted a brand-new “family” photo, featuring Wednesday posing with Pugsley and her parents, Morticia (Catherine Zeta-Jones) and Gomez (Luis Guzmán).

Wednesday was created by Smallville masterminds Miles Millar and Alfred Gough. They teamed up with Tim Burton to produce a spin-off series that aims to honor the original story, versus replacing it.

Wednesday doesn’t have an official premiere date (at least not yet), but according to Netflix, it’s “coming soon.”
