Paula Boudes for PureWow

I am an absolute sucker for a good sports story. An underdog coming from behind to win the race, a decades-long rivalry being played out for the last time on the court, athletes working so hard to achieve their dreams—all of it just cuts right to the core. And while I certainly enjoy a good football game and always tune in to watch the men’s soccer World Cup every four years, it’s women’s events I seek out most of all.

I’ve been going to women’s soccer matches since I was in elementary school when my dad, sister and I would get bleacher seats at Mitchel Field to cheer on Tiffeny Milbrett and the New York Power. I devoured any and all Olympics coverage, specifically idolizing the likes of Kristi Yamaguchi, Dominique Dawes and the Williams sisters. I watched my older sisters compete in gymnastics and track and field, and I thrived on teams of my own, including basketball, soccer, track and field and fencing.

This is why I’m so thrilled to be adding my small part to the hype with Scorecard. This monthly news roundup is PureWow’s hotspot for all things women’s sports, showcasing the achievements and lifestyles of powerhouse female athletes. So from one fan to another, here’s what’s hot and happening in July 2025.

  • Coco Gauff and Aryna Sabelenka released a video together after their intense French Open final match, but some saw it less as a mature display of camaraderie and more an example of the contrasting standards put on female and male athletes.
  • Paris Saint-Germain announces new official partnership with NUNA, an important milestone in showing support for professional athletes with children.
  • Tune in July 19 for the WBNA All-Star Game with teams lead by Caitlin Clark (Indiana Fever) and Napheesa Collier (Minnesota Lynx).
