The New #5 Movie on Netflix Is a Must-Watch Sci-Fi Thriller

This superhero drama, Sleight, is making a comeback on Netflix, and we can see why.

If the title sounds familiar, it’s probably because Sleight originally premiered back in 2016 at the Sundance Film Festival before hitting theaters one year later. The film just recently claimed a spot on Netflix’s list of most-watched movies, ranking at number five behind The Woman in the Window, I Am All Girls, The Mitchells vs. the Machines and Jungle Beat: The Movie.

The movie tells the story of Bashir “Bo” Wolfe (Jacob Latimore), a young street magician whose life is turned upside-down after the tragic death of his parents. He’s forced to provide for his little sister and, as a result, turns to illegal activities to keep food on the table.

Although he eventually obtains steady work as a drug dealer, Bo soon finds himself in over his head when a new supplier rolls into town, threatening his (and his sister’s) safety.

In addition to Latimore, Sleight also stars Seychelle Gabriel (Holly), Dulé Hill (Angelo), Storm Reid (Tina), Sasheer Zamata (Georgi), Michael Villar (Packy), Brandon Johnson (Ramone), Cameron Esposito (Luna) and Phil Lewis (mob boss).

The movie was directed by J. D. Dillard (Sweetheart), who also wrote the screenplay alongside Alex Theurer (The Fly). Jaremy Aiello (Alice in Wonderland), Jason Blum (Get Out), Shaul Dina (Stray), Justin Farajzadeh (Carnage Park), Keith R. Fowler (The Clinic), Michael J. Luisi (Fighting with My Family), Cyrus Zahabian (Stray) and Ilana Zahabian (Flower) served as executive producers.
