Details on ‘Conclave’ Star Ralph Fiennes's Relationship History

Doctor Who star Alex Kingston first met Fiennes at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London and they started dating in 1983. They tied the knot in 1993, but after several years of dating and four years of marriage, they parted ways due to Fiennes's infidelity. Multiple sources, including The Independent, reported that Fiennes began an affair with his Hamlet co-star, Francesca Annis, while he was still married.

Following their divorce in 1997, Kingston reportedly found it challenging to navigate. So much so that she moved to Los Angeles and avoided watching Fiennes's films for a while. Fortunately, she has since moved on. In 2012, Kingston told The Standard, "I feel no connection to him or to her now. It's been so long, I can't quite believe I was ever married to him."

Fiennes and Annis—who is 19 years older than The Menu star—first crossed paths on the set of Hamlet, where Fiennes played the titular character and Annis starred as Queen Gertrude. The pair reportedly started an affair in 1995, while they were both still in relationships. Annis wound up ending her 23-year relationship with Patrick Wiseman in 1997, and Fiennes, in turn, divorced Kingston.

Though the pair have kept their comments about the relationship to a minimum, Annis has spoken out about the age gap. Per BBC, she said, "Ralph and I have been together 10 years now, so whatever happens we have had a very good, different relationship and an interesting time."

After 11 years together, the two officially split in 2006. Annis's spokesperson said in a statement to BBC, "Ms Annis confirms that she and Ralph Fiennes are to separate."

In 2000, the pair were seen together at the 10th Annual Fire & Ice Ball in Los Angeles. Also, according to Page Six, in 2007, Barkin and Fiennes were seen "holding hands and cuddling" during an outing, which sparked dating rumors. Since both actors haven't addressed the rumor, it's unclear how long they dated.

Rumors of a romance between Fiennes and Smith surfaced in 2018 when the latter shared a heartfelt tribute to the actor on her Instagram page for his birthday in 2018. She posted a photo of the Conclave star and wrote, "This is Ralph Fiennes. A poet’s son and poetry is his manner. And poetry permeates the parts he plays. Happy birthday Ralph Fiennes, a fine man in every way." In addition, the two have been seen at a few events together, including The Grand Budapest Hotel premiere in New York in 2014. However, neither publicly confirmed if they dated.

Since Fiennes keeps his personal life under wraps, it's unclear whether he's currently in a relationship. However, I do know that he was spotted with a mystery lady back in 2019, while he was filming Kingsman in Italy. In pictures obtained by The Daily Mail, the pair were seen showing PDA as they visited the Egyptian Museum together.
