Nicolas Cage’s New Netflix Series Only Came Out Yesterday & It’s Already the #3 Show

Have you ever wondered where the most popular derogatory terms—like “f***” and “sh**”—originated? Allow Nicolas Cage to answer all your burning questions.

Netflix recently dropped a brand-new series, titled History of Swear Words, which is hosted by the National Treasure star. Although it just premiered earlier this month, it has already claimed the number three spot on the streaming service’s list of most-watched TV shows. (It’s currently ranked behind Cobra Kai and Bridgerton.)

History of Swear Words is exactly what it sounds like: Cage sitting in a Godfather-esque chair as he teaches viewers about where each term came from. Each episode explores a different word—like “p****,” which is discussed in the teaser trailer (see above).

It’s important to note that History of Swear Words doesn’t just show Cage rambling off facts. It also features appearances by multiple guest stars, including Nick Offerman, Sarah Silverman, Joel Kim Booster, DeRay Davis, Open Mike Eagle, Nikki Glaser, Patti Harrison, London Hughes, Jim Jefferies, Zainab Johnson, Baron Vaughn, and Isiah Whitlock Jr. Cage also consults with several experts, including professors, film critics and lexicographers.

According to the official description, the show is “a loud and proudly profane series that explores the origins, pop-culture usage, science and cultural impact of curse words.”

History of Swear Words is now streaming on Netflix (if you dare).
